Across the Passage: Pelican Waters and Bribie Island
Water divides this part of the map. Pelican Waters and Golden Beach sit on the Sunshine Coast side of the Pumicestone Passage, and Bribie Island sits on the other, linked to the mainland by a bridge at Sandstone Point. We repair printers and copiers on site on both sides, and we plan each visit around the crossing.
If you want to know why a Bribie job is planned differently from a Pelican Waters job, look at a map. Pelican Waters is a few minutes from Caloundra. Bribie Island is reached by the bridge at Sandstone Point, and a visit there is a trip in its own right.
That is why a Bribie booking gets more questions on the phone: make, model, symptom and anything already tried. The aim is the right part in the van on the first run.
We also like to combine visits. If two or three businesses on the island each have a printer on the blink, one trip serves them all. Tell your neighbours.

Pelican Waters is a waterfront estate with canals, a shopping village, a golf course and a good number of home offices. Golden Beach and the strip along the Pumicestone Passage have a mix of houses, small practices, marine businesses and holiday accommodation.
Printers here are mostly desktop lasers, small multifunctions and label printers. A practice may have a floor standing A3. Boat and marine businesses tend to keep a printer in a shed or back room, with the salt and damp that go with it.
Bongaree is the main commercial centre of Bribie Island: Welsby Parade, the shops and services around it, and a spread of real estate, finance and medical and allied health practices. Bellara and Banksia Beach have their own small centres, and Woorim on the ocean side is more residential with surf and tourism.
The island has a large retiree population and many small businesses run from home. A lot of the machines are small, and old, and still going. We repair business machines, and we are honest about the ones that are not worth repairing.
Three things, mostly. Paper that takes on damp. Connectors and sensors with salt on them. And network drop outs, since a waterfront house often has a Wi-Fi extender hanging off the end of a long chain.
The first two come down to where the machine sits and how often it is cleaned. The third is a settings job, sorted on site by giving the printer a fixed address, moving the access point to a better spot, or running a cable.
Not every part is on the van. When one has to be ordered you hear about it before the visit, and a second visit goes in the diary only once you agree.
Medical and allied health practices want scanning and labels to work. Marine businesses want invoices and parts lists printed. Tradies want quotes and job sheets. Each has a different kind of urgency, and we ask which machine blocks the day.
If you run a business from a home on the island, the same terms apply as anywhere else. We repair commercial machines in homes.
You phone and we run through the questions above, then give you our view and the cost. Agree to it and we book. The technician attends your premises, locates the fault, repairs it and tests the result with you.
Same day service is available, although a Bribie booking may need slightly more notice. The people we send are trained, experienced and certified. About 98% of repairs are complete on the first visit, and if the fault returns we fix it again free. We are independent of the makers, and machines are something we sell and buy as well.
A job across the water gets a few more questions than usual, because a second visit costs more.
What is the exact make and model? That tells us which parts to bring. What does the screen say? That points to the area of the machine. Does it fail every time or just sometimes? An intermittent fault is usually a sensor or a connector, a steady one is usually a worn part. When did it last work? A fault with a start date usually has a cause on that date, such as a power cut, a move or a software update.
A photo of the printout is gold. A line down the page, a smear, a blank band, a repeating mark: we can usually tell from the photo which part is involved.
Bribie Island has a lot of clubs, community groups, bowls and sporting associations, small shops and home businesses. They run older machines, and they are careful about money. They are also the people most likely to ask whether a printer is worth fixing.
Our answer is a straight one. Where a part costs more than the machine is worth, you hear it. Where the machine is a good one, you hear that too. A club that runs a donated copier off a volunteer's kitchen table gets the same plain talk as an accountant.
Out in the hills
Maleny, Nambour, Eumundi, Kenilworth, Gympie. Small offices and farm supply counters have the same copier problems as a Maroochydore firm and fewer people to fix them. Ring before the van is loaded and we pack for your make, so a long drive is not wasted on the wrong roller.
A town office should not get a worse repair than a coastal one. Same technicians, same standard, same free second go if the fault returns.

It is. Printers and copiers get repaired at Bribie premises in Bongaree, Bellara, Banksia Beach and Woorim. Each visit is planned as a run of its own, so the extra questions come first.
Yes. They are a short run from Caloundra and are part of our regular area.
It is, although a longer run may need earlier notice. The sooner you ring, the better we can say what is possible.
Often because of distance from the access point or a long extender chain. We give the printer a fixed address and move it or cable it. That solves most of these.
Yes. Thermal heads and platen rollers are common repairs. Pale or skipped labels are usually quick jobs.
Make and model, what the machine is doing, and your address with any access detail. If you can, send a photo of the screen or the printed page.
By phone, ahead of any booking. Nothing is locked in.
The repeat visit is ours: we fix it again at no charge.
That turns on the part and the age. You get the repair cost next to the value of the machine, and the decision is yours. Should a replacement be the better route, we can go through that with you.
Yes. If neighbours or nearby businesses each have a machine to fix, tell us. One trip serves them all.
